My Life: Revelation

Life is really full of surprises. Two weeks ago, i was just complaining of stomach discomforts. A doctor friend of mine offered to do a abdominal ultrasound for me. The results were not good and he wanted me to undergo, full abdominal CT scan. \i was hesitant cause i did not have the budget for that, it would cost around 8k. while chatting in Facebook, a friend of mine who i have not met for quite some time had time to chat with me, and i mentioned my problem. He immediately issued a check for me to cover the cost of my CT scan. Thank God for that. I had my CT scan last monday and we waited till wednesday for the result. When we got the result last wednesday, reading it, i knew it was not good. I asked a doctor friend to interpret it for me.
\He told me that i had Cancer of the colon, and has already affected my liver and lungs. i had that feeling it will boil to that. i told myself, now the time has come. And probably the Lord already knows what is best. i lifted my life to him. at this time, i am concerned with my son and how he will accept it. My wife is very supportive to me, and she tries to be strong. My friend doctor still is very optimistic and told me he wants me to undergo colonoscopy and biopsy. then probably decide whether to go for chemo and operation. As of now i have given everything to God. whatever he decides i will abide. i have informed my very close relatives and friends and ask for their prayers. i ask that i may be prepared and that i will have courage. i may not be that brave, but i remember my late wife who died with CA of the ovary who took it with strenght and courage. it is knowing the truth that makes you think of a lot of things. What i know is that, it is not in my hands anymore but it is in Gods hands, that is the revelation that i have learned this week. it all ends up with him. ...Joseph Edwin Vergabera

The Easy Roadf

“There are always two choices. Two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it’s easy.” -Unknown

I need to constantly remind myself to not do what’s easiest.

As I’ve mentioned before, I work from home. Many days, it’s tempting to pull open my laptop the second I wake up—which means I’ll likely spend the first couple of hours working in my pajamas, only to find myself feeling somewhat disconnected from the day outside my door.

I know this happens. I know that I feel better about myself when I get ready for the day as I would if I were going to an office. I know I’ll feel even better if I actually go somewhere to work—a coffee shop, a park, anywhere outside the 3-room apartment I share with my boyfriend.

And yet sometimes it takes a concerted effort to do this. Why? Because it’s easier not to.

And it’s easy to make excuses: Why bother taking a shower? I’m planning to work out later. Why bother going to a coffee shop? I can save money if I stay here. Why bother wearing something other than yoga pants? I’m not doing anything that requires me to dress nicely.

The answer to all these questions is the same: because it makes me feel good. And that alone is reason enough to push through my instinctive desire to do what’s easiest. It just plain feels better to get outside my house and my head.

Every day, we have countless opportunities to take the easiest, yet least satisfying road.

We can turn to the things that comfort and numb us instead of acknowledging the things we want to change. We can do what comes naturally instead of recognizing and honoring what we do passionately. We can justify the path of least resistance by ignoring our strongest instincts.

But this is a choice to grow bored with life—and that’s a shame, since there is a world of beauty and wonder waiting just outside the door we don’t usually open.

Today I’m opening that door by not taking the easiest road. Today I will make an effort. Will you?

And God Created Woman

One fine morning in the Garden of Eden, God looked down upon Adam and noticed that he was looking glum. So the Lord said to Adam "What troubles you, my Son?"

Adam looked up to God ad said "I'm lonely, Father. I have no one to talk to."

So God said "Then I shall give you a companion, and she will cook and clean for you, and wash your clothes. She shall bear your children and never wake you in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will give you love and compassion whenever you want it. She will not nag at you, and will always be the first to admit she is wrong if you two ever disagree. She will love and support you no matter what, and always agree with any important decision you make. She shall be called a 'woman.'

Intrigued, Adam asked God "What shall this woman cost, Father?"

God replied "One arm and one leg, my son."

Adam pondered this question for a minute, and with the seriousness that only comes from complete certainty, he answered... "Hmm, what can I get for just a rib?"

The Compassionate Lawyer

Driving through town in his BMW, a successful young lawyer spotted two man on the side of the road eating grass out of somebody's yard. Moved by how desperate the men had become, he pulls over to have a word with them,

"Hey fellas, what is going on? Why are you eating grass?" asks the lawyer.

"We're down on our luck, have no jobs and are very poor!", they both respond.

"Well then, come with me" the lawyer insists. "I'll do what I can to help, after all - it's clear you're desperate and you're clearly willing to do what it takes to get by."

After a fifteen minute drive, the two poor men arrive at a beautiful estate on five acres of land right on the 18th hole of a prestigious golf course. They became excited at the chance to finally get some work.

"Sir, we can't thank you enough! Thank you so much for this opportunity. We will make you happy!" they exclaimed with joy!

"Ah, it's no problem. I'm just happy to help." replied the compassionate lawyer. You can eat all the grass you want, it's got to be at least a foot tall by now!"

Fun Time...

A fellow finds himself in front of the Pearly Gates. St. Peter explains that its not so easy to get in heaven. There are some criteria before entry is allowed. For example, was the man religious in life? Attend church? No? St. Peter told him thats bad.Was he generous? give money to the poor? Charities? No? St. Peter told him that that too was bad.Did he do any good deeds? Help his neighbor? Anything? No? St. Peter was becoming concerned.Exasperated, Peter says, "Look, everybody does something nice sometime. Work with me, Im trying to help. Now think!" The man says, "There was this old lady. I came out of a store and found her surrounded by a dozen Hells Angels. They had taken her purse and were shoving her around, taunting and abusing her.I got so mad I threw my bags down, fought through the crowd, and got her purse back. I then helped her to her feet. I t hen went up to the biggest, baddest biker and told him how despicable, cowardly and mean he was and then spat in his face". "Wow", said Peter, "Thats impressive. When did this happen"? "Oh, about 10 minutes ago", replied the man.

Never die easy

Have you ever read a motivation story that demonstrated courage and dignity under the worst possible circumstances? I have. It's the story of Walter Payton's last weeks. If you do not know who Walter Payton was - he was a great runningback for the Chicago Bears NFL football team. While his background may not be familar to you, his story will touch and help you.

In 1999, Walter Payton contracted a rare liver disease along with an even rarer form of cancer. His prognosis was bleak. He was going to die. He was only 45 years old.

How does a person deal with something like this? Walter Payton, along with Don Yeager, wrote a book called Never Die Easy. It shares inspiring lessons that can help you - as you, hopefully, face a less daunting challenge than Mr. Payton did.

As with most professional athletes, I'm sure Walter Payton recognized the importance of good nutrition and staying fit. Therefore, his diagnosis must have proved shocking.

If you want to read the details of his last days, as well as an autobiography of this life, then I recommend you read his book. It will touch you emotionally. However, I want to focus on the inspiring lessons Walter Payton's ordeal teaches.

A motivation story such as Walter Payton's offers many inspiring lessons to draw from. For instance:

No matter how bleak your circumstances, you do not have to be a victim. You can find courage to live the days you have to the best of your ability. Unlike Mr. Payton, you have another chance. Take it.
Never take life for granted, because tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. So appreciate what you have. Always remember that you are no better than anyone else and that every opportunity you have to meet someone is an opportunity to leave a piece of yourself. Every moment you have matters, so act like it.
If you don't have good health, you have nothing. So don't take your physical or mental health for granted. Cherish you. This is your only shot at it.
Never die easy. This was Walter Payton's life motto. He learned this message from his college football coach. It means, never give up or die without trying - without giving your best. You might have to face painful stuff head on, but do it. Never make it easy for the negative stuff in life to consume you. Fight. Be strong. Show courage.
As I summarize Mr. Payton's message. I want to say thank you Walter Payton for sharing your motivation story. Your story provided inspiration for me as I dealt with my brain tumor. As for you, I hope, in some small way, you too can find inspiration from this inspiring story as you deal with stuff in your life.

fun time 2

Three partners in an accounting firm go out to lunch. They are the audit partner, the tax partner and the senior partner. One of them sees a brass lamp lying in the gutter. Curious, they pick it up and give it a rub. Instantly, a genie appears."You know the deal," says the genie. "Three wishes. But seeing there are three of you, you can have one wish each.""Great," says the audit partner. "Take me to the Whitsunday Islands, give me a blonde and an endless supply of XXXX and leave me there for ever."Pouf! There is a flash of light, a puff of smoke and he is gone."Now me," says the tax partner. "Take me to the Cook Islands, give me two blondes and an endless supply of offshore tax schemes and leave me there for ever."Pouf! There is a flash of light, a puff of smoke and he is gone. The genie turns to the senior partner. "And what do you want?""I want those two ba ck in the office straight after lunch."
